Post 13: A variety of lentils are a healthy & easy option

Have you ever walked into an Indian grocer and encountered an array of lentils and not had the foggiest clue as to how to cook them?

Well let me tell you folks that these very lentils can save you a lot of time and money. Once cooked the spices mature over three to four days in the fridge - so they taste better each day! Compare this with a steak or non-vegetarian casserole, which will last for may be 2 days in the fridge. Plus they cost a lot more and give you fewer meals.

Learn how to cook these lentils and you can happily put a variety of dishes on your table for weeks or months without the need to visit your butcher. Your wallet and the planet will love you for this switch. Your gut will be singing and your energy levels will soar. I mean, what more could you ask for eh?

BTW, these are the staples of every Indian pantry. Especially, in times like the present, when we really don’t want to go out too often to the supermarket, butcher or greengrocer.

May I suggest that you jump online and check out all the pressure cookers out there. Choose one with good reviews and make the investment. It will last you for a lifetime, especially if properly looked after. Follow the safety precautions and cook the lentils in a flash.

Check out my recipes section as I will be uploading lentil recipes as and when I make them at home.
